The CASIO fx-82 series started with the CASIO fx-82, an ordinary scientific calculator. But CASIO
kept extending this line, turning it not into just a model number but a whole
calculator series. Trying to make it the non-programmable scientific
calculator for school use.
So far I’ve found mention of the following types:
Just like its predecessor, the CASIO fx-82MS this calculator has "S-V.P.A.M." which stands for "Super Visually Perfect Algebraic Method". For a description of specific functionality please refer to its predecessor. There is not a lot wrong with its predecessor but if there is one thing standing out it is the look and feel of this second edition which in my view is much more pleasing to the eye. The calculator is fast, is very easy to work with, and runs up to two years on one AA battery (when used one hour daily, according to its manual). A screw driver however is needed to replace the battery, the back needs to be removed, and six small screws keep the back in place. On a personal note, when I write this (in 2025) I just have this CASIO fx-82MS 2nd edition returned to me. Earlier this year I found it at a flea market. And then my son started his new study and needed a proper school calculator. Earlier I gave him a surplus Aristo M 76 because it is a beautiful calculator to have but his school could not prove it was allowed at exams. So I gave him this CASIO. Later I bought him a brand new CASIO fx-82ES PLUS 2nd edition because it is more powerful than this CASIO and has math-print output. |
