This is the Japanese version of the SHARP PC-1500A. It is functionally
the same but it has Kana characters printed on its faceplate. The sticker left to the
カナ key has the text "カナ 表示 (別売品必要)" which translates to
"Kana display (requires separate purchase)". This key replaces the SHARP PC-1500A’s
SML key.
The "separate purchase" here indicates the necessity to install the CE-157 memory module which, next to providing 4 kb of battery backed-up memory also provides the Kana character set. I still have to find this module. For a technical description on this Pocket Computer’s capabilities please see my page on the TRS-80 PC-2. That might seem illogical since that one is actually a clone of the SHARP PC-1500A but it is the PC-2 is the Pocket Computer I used Quite A Lot. |
A power adapter.
