The US-80R is a quite heavy calculator with an nine-digit fluorescent display,
eight for accuracy and the left one for overflow indication "C" and for displaying
the minus for negative numbers. Probably from the mid-1970’s.
It is unclear what the brand of this calculator is. There is an empty space top-left where
a logo might once have been. Google didn't help either. There is
no brand information on its back. I opened the calculator to find more information but that didn’t
help either.
I could find
two other calculator collectors with this same model. Calcuseum has it listed
on
this page (link validated 2024-08-25) also showing a picture without a logo. The
model is also for sale at Hans Bloemen’s Flowercalc on
this page (link validated 2024-08-25). His version does have a logo (shown here) but
reverse image searching that logo didn’t reveal anything either. It might be that
this model is a promotional model and that anyone can place their own logo on it, but
that is just speculation.
A slider can be used to have multiplication and division repeat after pressing the = key repeatedly. The first number entered is the number used for the repeat. So to repeatedly multiply a number by two, enter "2 x [number] =" with the orange slider set to "K" and repeat by entering another number and pressing =. The battery compartment at the bottom slides out together with the batteries. It is quite hard to remove. To remove it I needed to use a so-called black stick, a teflon instrument to pry without leaving marks. |
