Take a good look. I only found out this is a FAKE SHARP "ELSI MATE" EL-383 after scanning and retouching! Not a single hit on the net when I search for SHRAP calculators. I therefore do not have a clue as to when this FAKE calculator was produced.
The museum does not yet have a real SHARP "ELSI MATE" EL-383 so I can not compare the innards. This one’s battery compartment is a pain in the you-know-what and it took me a good 10 minutes to replace the two batteries. One extremely small screw that obviously falls out and hides somewhere in the carpet holds the batteries in place.
As a calculator, though, it functions as is expected from it.
I found this calculator on the desk of Henk Mulder (my father) whilst cleaning out the house after he unfortunately passed away.
