Notes:	The HP 48 series of calculators preserves the wonderful look of HP’s calculator heritage. Different buttons but the same sturdy feel. Despite the many functions I think the keyboard looks really balanced. Accented function keys at the top. A beautiful machine to look at. The HP 48GX is part of a series of HP 48 calculators. Wikipedia lists (link validated 2024-01-13) the following family members: HP 48S HP 48SX HP 48G HP 48GX (this one) HP 48G+ These calculators have everything one might need. One might wonder how such a calculator could ever be succeeded. In fact this calculator has so many functions that it will be hard to produce a TL;DR, I won’t even try. A Quick Guide manual of the HP 48G (a sibling) and the HP48GX’s User Guide (link validated 2024-01-13) can be downloaded from hp.com. The HP 48GX has 128 kB of on-board RAM which can be extended to 256 kB (see Peripherals). Much better battery life than the HP 49G. Peripherals

This calculator has two extension slots at the back that can be used for ROM or extra RAM. It also has two I/O ports, an infra-red port that can be used for the HP 82440B printer and also an RS-232 port for communications.
